WBRU is located in a historic structure at 88 Benevolent Street in Providence, which was built as a fire station in 1867.
Through the redesign, it was vital to expand production space, create a community gathering space, create a well designed and accessible archival area, as well as retaining the historic structure and culture.
At the entrance is the Special Collections Viewing Area, used to display monthly collections, posters, vinyl records and vintage memorabilia.
This double-height event space allows for connection to both levels. Both the recording room and the artist lounge provide views of this gathering space.
