I developed a set of technical drawings for a small park entrance booth as part of ARCH 240: Organization of Materials in Buildings. The project involved designing a compact, single-room structure within a constrained footprint and producing a comprehensive drawing set—including a foundation plan, floor plan, elevation, and wall section—using AutoCAD .
This assignment marked my first experience working with AutoCAD, where I learned fundamental drafting conventions such as line weights, layering, dimensioning, and annotation. The course emphasized construction systems in detail, including slab-on-grade foundations, wood-framed wall assemblies with 2”x6” studs, and basic roof structures, which were incorporated into the drawings.
Through this process, I developed an understanding of how architectural drawings communicate material choices, structural systems, and construction specifications, reinforcing the importance of precision and clarity in technical documentation.
