This project involves the design and rendering of a dining room for the fictional Everton Family. They are a family of 6 with a live-in nanny, who wanted a formal dining room despite using it daily for dinners. They wanted a dramatic and vibrant room in a Hollywood Glamour style.
My goal while designing this space was to ensure the luxurious feel without becoming overwhelming. The design while dramatic uses texture and color to create a welcoming space.

The client asked for ample and varied lighting, you will see a chandelier over the table, 2 pendent lights, 2 sconces, a floor lamp and 2 directional spotlights in addition to overhead can lights.
The client asked for storage for china and glassware, which is how I ended up using both a buffet and china cabinet. To get to enough seats for the family, I went with a 98" oval table.

The Evertons wanted a Hollywood glamour room and specified jewel tones as their color scheme. I started the space by finding a painting for over the buffet that would provide the color inspiration of the space.
A key part of Hollywood glamour is texture, the curtains are velvet, the dining chairs faux mohair, and even the rug is a custom dyed cowhide. I then went for all brass accessories. The boldest decision by far was to paint the walls, trim, doors, and ceiling a deep teal color. By color drenching the room, it allowed the wainscoting and trim to be an accent not a focal point.
In this space I knew I wanted to take classic pieces and add modern elements. The classic oval marble dining table paired with the structural modern armed dining table is a great example of this. To create harmony throughout the space, I chose to use an oval buffet and an arched china hutch.
When it came to light fixtures, I knew immediately I wanted to use a vintage gold palm lamp by Sergio Terzani, as it truly embodies Hollywood Glamour. The chandelier is a classic waterfall design from West Elm, that while dramatic is not distracting. The pendents, sconces, and picture light are all from CB2. The planter is from CB2 and while I planned on originally having 2, as I rendered I realized the 2nd plant was distracting.
