Early Intervention Preschool

Project Details

For this project, the task was to design a specialized early intervention preschool in Colorado Springs, CO, for the Mountain View Growth and Development Center (MVGDC). The preschool was tailored to children with special needs—particularly those on the autism spectrum—by creating a safe, inclusive, and sensory-friendly learning environment that integrates seamlessly with the larger school.

Guided by the concept “Nurture,” the design emphasizes a home-like atmosphere enriched by green design principles and a strong connection to nature. Classrooms flow into immersive outdoor spaces that support Montessori-style, hands-on learning through sensory exploration, calm environments, and opportunities for social interaction. Therapeutic gardens, sensory landscapes, and nature-inspired learning areas foster growth, belonging, and understanding, while reinforcing MVGDC’s mission of providing a nurturing haven where every child can flourish.
