Project details
Irwin Partners specialized in senior care design. While working under Greg Irwin and Melissa Pence, I mainly focused on the schematic and entitlement packages at the front end of what felt like a vertical design approach. I would help with Site Plan design (code compliance, parking, future EV spacing per Green Code), unit modification for hotlinking into the main files, and exterior styling with principal direction per owners' request. I would also make sure projects were coordinated and integrated with Civil, Landscape, and Interior. This was pivotal in the creation, organization, and completion of our entitlement packages.

Project Justifications
From time to time, depending on the municipality, I would have to do project write-ups to justify design direction to a council. I would typically have to establish historical relevance of style choice, along with modern comparisons to surrounding neighborhoods. This would be to satiate any qualms about our overall designs so a project could advance to the next phase.
Results
Irwin Partners is a well-established and wonderful firm. Given different life circumstances, I would have preferred to stay. That being said, it was a great place to work and gain experience on large scale projects. Senior Living in particular provided a unique challenge of designing large scale residential communities with strict ADA requirements, while also having a commercial backing in both function and design.
