In transforming an ordinary pantry closet into a sophisticated wine cellar, this project was an exercise in the art of space maximization and tasteful design.
The aim was to maintain ample countertop space around the room’s perimeter, while providing an expansive bottle storage system that didn't compromise the room's open feel.
The careful consideration and attention to detail paid off, with the final selection accommodating 404 bottles and maintaining complete countertop space along all three walls.
We confronted the room's unique dimensions, including a 5”x10” bump-out in the far right corner, by designing a custom floating wood shelf.
Working in collaboration with the woodworkers, this design element was thoughtfully crafted with cut-outs precisely measured and shaped to accommodate the clients wine glasses.
Wall storage was at a premium, and to fully capitalize on it, we installed a wood ladder that added both utility and character. This ladder fastened to a hand-finished bronze railing, allowed easy access to the bottles displayed up high, while complementing the cellar’s base cabinets and enhancing the overall aesthetic.
The result was a seamless blend of accessibility and elegance.
