SAPS station

Project overview

Angela Baker and Associates is a small firm in Durban, South Africa. I was employed at ABA Architects to help produce drawings towards a documentation package for SAPS before their contract deadline. ABA was assigned the police station design of a four part public facility project. It was especially insightful to listen in on meetings with the larger team. The project aim is to create facility prototypes which will be duplicated throughout rural area’s nationally.

During my time on this project, I got to work on a wide range of drawings. I produced various illustrations to show the extents of the kit of parts and the spaces adaptability. I assisted updating the SAPS door and gate schedules to reflect our drawings and drafted construction details. I drew up finishes, fitting and signage schedules and plans. I contributed to the exterior signage design options and rendered choices which were presented to the client. I detailed the precinct fencing contacting manufacturing companies for specs, providing two options for different areas of varied safety.
