Anji House

It is widely believed that our attitudes towards nature are largely shaped during our formative years. As such, the design of the house aims to provide a serene and welcoming environment for families with children to live and play, fostering a positive relationship with the natural world from an early age.

"We shall create a coexistence future of sustainability both for humans and trees and forests." As a result of this principle, the decision was made to construct the units surrounding trees, with the hope that providing children with an environment centered around trees would instill a lifelong appreciation and respect for nature. This approach seeks to shape the relationship of future generations with the natural world, fostering a coexistence that is sustainable for both humans and forests.

The entrance to the plot has been designed to align with the surrounding roads and is situated on the southern side, providing easy access from the waterfront.

The chosen plot is ideal for the target group, as it offers seclusion from the rest of the complex. However, given the high number of families with young children, it is expected that some level of noise pollution may occur. To address this, a plot located further away from other villages has been selected, as it offers a peaceful environment for visitors who prefer quiet observation of nature. By providing visitors with the freedom to enjoy the experience in a tranquil setting, the village can foster a sense of relaxation and tranquility for all.

To address the desire to allow children to explore freely while ensuring parents' peace of mind, a low maze was designed to enclose the perimeter of the plot. The maze is constructed from natural bushes and flowers, creating a safe and exciting play area for children. Additionally, a wide path encircling the entire plot was created for easy communication.

The units offer several benefits including excellent views, such as the ancient trees to the West, the beautiful lake situated directly in front of the plot, and the mountain view to the East, which frames the valley.

The placement of the housing units was determined based on the location of the existing trees, but their orientation was adjusted to optimize natural lighting and views from the living spaces.

To implement the principles of Anji Play, a Chinese school program centered around unstructured play that allows children to take risks, develop their creativity, and learn how to work in a team, modular boxes were incorporated into the design of the walls in the building. These modular boxes allow for the creation of imaginary structures and everyday objects, encouraging children to use their imagination and work together to build and play. This approach prioritizes unstructured play and allows children to learn through exploration and experimentation.

Box walls:

The walls are constructed using modular boxes that can be easily manipulated to serve various functions. This flexibility in the building materials allows for the creation of different spaces and shapes that can adapt to the changing needs of the users.

Watch - platform:

To ensure the safety of the children, a watch platform has been created with a ramp that allows parents to observe their kids at play. At the same time, the platform also provides a place for parents to relax and enjoy the surrounding views.

Water retention:

The design of the roof incorporates a shape that allows for the collection of rainwater, which serves several purposes. Firstly, it creates a reflection of the surrounding trees, further emphasizing the connection with nature. Additionally, the collected rainwater can be used as a new substance for children to play with, enhancing sensory play. Finally, in a climate that experiences fluctuating levels of rainfall, the collection of rainwater helps to retain water for later use.
