Telok Kurau House
Project details
This residential project is a two-story semi-detached house located in Telok Kurau, Singapore. The house is designed to accommodate a family of five, a young couple and their three children, all boys. Given the children’s safety as a top priority, the design integrates child-friendly features such as rounded furniture edges, non-slip flooring, and secure stair railings to minimize risks.
The overall concept follows a Japandi style, subtle coastal elements are introduced in select areas, adding a relaxed and airy feel. The use of natural materials like wood and stone enhances durability while maintaining a cozy, organic aesthetic.

Level 1 (Living, Dining, Kitchen)
The main living spaces, including the living room, kitchen, and family area, embrace a Japandi aesthetic—combining the warmth of Scandinavian design with the simplicity of Japanese minimalism. A beige-dominated color palette was chosen by the homeowners to create a sense of warmth, harmony, and timeless elegance. This neutral base enhances natural lighting and contributes to a calming atmosphere, making the space feel open and inviting.

In contrast, Master Bedroom, Kid’s bedrooms and bathroom introduce a more playful color scheme, adding vibrancy and energy suited to their young age.
Results
The renovation successfully transformed the semi-detached house into a more spacious, functional, and aesthetically cohesive home for the family. The predominantly beige color scheme, combined with Japandi and coastal influences, creates a serene and sophisticated living environment that aligns with the homeowners’ vision.
Upon completion, the homeowners expressed high satisfaction with the outcome, appreciating the well-balanced design, improved functionality, and warm, inviting atmosphere of their new home.
